A Boone Iowa man faces up to over three years in jail after a simple trespass incident reportedly escalated.
Police were at the Target store on East Washington Street at approximately 8:10 pm August 24th when 23-year-old Riyazamana Norbert was refusing commands to leave the premises. He allegedly started to walk away from the officers and showed measurable signs of intoxication. Norbert reportedly had bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech, had the odor of ingested alcohol, and was wearing bar wristbands.
He continued to pull away from the officers, and had to be escorted into a squad car after refusing commands to get in. An officer was kicked in the chin during the process.
Once inside the vehicle, Norbert allegedly kicked and broke the door handle off the passenger side rear door.
He was charged with Trespass, Public Intoxication, Interference with Official Acts causing Bodily Injury, Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations causing Bodily Injury, and Criminal Mischief. An arraignment has been scheduled for September 16th.
