An Iowa City man charged with stealing a bottle of tequila from a southeast side liquor store earlier this year is accused of taking hundreds in merchandise earlier this week.

60-year-old Curtis Seals reportedly was at the Broadway Street Casey’s at around 9:30pm Monday. He allegedly was seen by staff bagging merchandise.  He then left the store with the merchandise, valued at over $420, without paying.

With two prior theft convictions on his record, Seals was charged with 3rd degree theft, an aggaravated misdemeanor punishable by a two-year jail sentence if convicted.

On June 6th, Seals was seen on camera concealing a bottle of tequila and bypassing all points of sale before leaving it inside the store’s restroom.  When police stopped him, he allegedly had measurable signs of intoxication.

For that incident, Seals faces 3rd degree theft and public intoxication charges. A case management conference is scheduled for October 14th.
