A Cedar Rapids woman allegedly armed with an air rifle is accused of threatening to kill her mother’s boyfriend in Iowa City.

Iowa City Police were called to a residence on the 900 block of Willow Street just after 3:00 Monday afternoon for a woman with a rifle making threats in the hallway. Responding officers say they located 42-year-old Debra Johnson of 8th Avenue SW holding a .22 caliber air rifle. Witnesses say Johnson said she was there to kill her mother’s boyfriend. She reportedly showed signs of intoxication, and her breath alcohol level was measured at .259%. Johnson allegedly resisted arrest, including kicking an officer who was trying to take her into custody.

Johnson is charged with Going Armed With Intent, Person Ineligible to Carry Weapons, Possession of a Dangerous Weapon While Intoxicated, Public Intoxication, Assault on Persons In Certain Occupations, and Interference With Official Acts. If convicted on all charges, she faces a maximum of eight years in prison.
