Iowa City man arrested on drug charges after failing to identify himself

An Iowa City man was taken into custody early Monday on drug charges after refusing to identify himself.

20-year-old transient Joshua Hurtado was involved in an argument with another subject on the 2100 block of Sycamore Street at approximately 12:23 am and was stopped by an officer.  He allegedly provided false identification information to officers multiple times. A search of his person reportedly turned up nearly 80 grams of marijuana and a glass pipe containing residue.

The subject Hurtado was arguing with had a non-expiring No Contact Order involving Hurtado.

He was taken into custody and charged with Providing False ID information, Marijuana possession, Failure to Affix Drug Stamp, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Violation of the no-contact order. Hurtado could be sentenced to over six years in prison if convicted on all counts.
