An Iowa City woman was arrested Saturday morning after leaving the scene of an accident.

The incident occurred near the intersection of Ruppert Road and Riverside Drive just before 10:30. 19-year-old Laniyah Grisby Flowers reportedly was witnessed striking a motorcyclist with her Hyundai Accent and continued without stopping.

A witness followed Flowers to a residence and notified police, who contacted her. She allegedly admitted to being in the accident and stated that she was scared and didn’t know what to do, so she drove home to speak with her mother.

The motorcyclist was taken to University of Iowa Health Care Medical Center for treatment of injuries.

Flowers was charged with leaving the scene of an injury accident, a serious misdemeanor.
