A Quad Cities-area man was arrested early Thursday after allegedly interfering with emergency personnel on a medical call in downtown Iowa City.

According to police, 19 year old Cole Jennings of Eldridge reportedly interjected himself into the incident at around 1:40am on the 100 block of East Iowa Avenue.  He was told to step away multiple times and eventually walked away, but then returned and allegedly continued to interfere.  He reportedly jumped onto the back of the ambulance on scene and harassed the EMS personnel.

Police reported Jennings  had bloodshot watery eyes, had the odor of ingested alcohol, and was wearing a bar wristband.   A post-arrest search allegedly turned up a fictitious Wisconsin ID making him appear to be of legal drinking age.  Jennings refused a post-arrest PBT and allegedly resisted putting his hands behind his back when handcuffed.

He’s been charged with Interference with Official Acts, Public Intoxication, and possession of Fictitious ID. If convicted on all counts, Jennings could be sentenced to up to 14 months in jail.
