The Coralville and North Liberty fire departments responded to an apartment blaze Monday night.
According to a news release from the Coralville Fire Department, at about 5:15 firefighters responded to a fire call at a multi-family residence on Russell Slade Boulevard. The fire originated in the kitchen and, thanks to the building’s fire sprinkler system, was quickly contained and extinguished before it could spread. As a result, the apartment sustained only minor smoke and water damage.
The Coralville Fire Department says the incident underscores why all building owners and managers should ensure that their fire safety systems, including sprinklers, are properly installed and maintained.
