North Liberty Police say a resident of Shelter House in Iowa City destroyed a computer monitor at a local gym.

34-year-old Joshua Vanfleet was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 10:45 Saturday morning. According to arrest records, Vanfleet entered Top Shape Gym on Jordan Street just before 11:00 Tuesday night when no employees were present. Police say Vanfleet tried to use a tanning bed, but because his membership had expired, the computer would not allow it to activate. Vanfleet reportedly became frustrated, picked up the computer’s monitor and slammed it to the floor, destroying it.  The estimated cost to replace the device is $2,000.

Vanfleet allegedly admitted to becoming angry and destroying the computer monitor. He’s charged with 2nd Degree Criminal Mischief, a Class D felony punishable by a maximum of five years in prison.
