Allegedly vandalizing the University of Iowa journalism building has led to an Iowa City man’s arrest.

Witnesses reported seeing 47-year-old Carl White of the Town & Campus Apartments on Arthur Street throwing rocks toward the Adler Journalism and Mass Communication Building on West Washington Street just before 7:15 Friday night. One window was broken, with an estimated replacement cost of $800-$900.

UI Police say White admitted to throwing rocks at the building. A glass pipe with residue was allegedly found on his person upon his arrest.

White is charged with 3rd Degree Criminal Mischief and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. If convicted on both charges, he faces a maximum of 25 months in jail.
