A suspect is accused of forcing his way into an Iowa City residence occupied by a protected party who has a no-contact order against him.

Iowa City Police say they were called to a fight in progress on Wayne Avenue just after 1:00 Thursday morning. The alleged victim claimed 30-year-old Clarence Jackson of North Johnson Street kicked in the door of the apartment despite her having a no-contact order against him. Police say Jackson admitted to being at the apartment and to speaking to her, and there was noticeable damage to the front door.

A search of Jackson’s person reportedly turned up a small metal chest containing a white pill that police determined to be baclofen. Jackson allegedly claimed to have a prescription for it, but he provided no proof. The chest also contained multiple pen tubes that Jackson reportedly claimed he used to smoke meth.

Jackson is charged with 2nd Degree Burglary, Prohibited Acts Involving Prescription Drugs, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and a No-Contact Order Violation. If convicted on all counts, he faces a maximum of over 11 years in prison.
