An Iowa City woman was arrested over the weekend when she allegedly violated a no-contact order and assaulted police in the process.

According to the criminal complaint, 28-year-old Jaetecia Higgins was in the residence of the protected party at around 1:15 am Sunday; officers were called because she reportedly refused to leave.  The protected party let police in, and they found Higgins hiding underneath a bed.

Higgins was placed under arrest and handcuffed. She allegedly started kicking at officers, striking them in the arms and legs.  Higgins continued kicking as officers carried her out of the building and into the squad car.  She also reportedly swung her head around and struck officers with her head.

Higgins was charged with contempt for violating the no-contact order; interference with official acts, and two counts of assault on persons in certain occupations. If convicted on all charges, she could be sentenced to up to 25 months in jail.
