Oskaloosa woman charged after mother reports SUV stolen

An Oskaloosa woman who reportedly took her mother’s SUV while she was being treated at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics has been arrested after the vehicle was reported stolen.

36-year-old Jessica Lewis allegedly took her mother’s vehicle without permission at an undisclosed date.  The mother reported the vehicle as stolen to authorities.

Lewis was in the vehicle returning to the UIHC on July 17th around 12:50pm when she was caught by University of Iowa police. She was charged with Operating a Vehicle without Owner’s Consent, an aggravated misdemeanor.

Lewis was released on her own recognizance, and a public defender was appointed. Future court dates are pending.
