A wanted sex offender is accused of giving Iowa City Police his brother’s name and information to avoid arrest.

33-year-old Devin Menard is accused of skipping a March 18th court date relating to a charge of Interference With a Corrections Official. Menard was allegedly a passenger in a vehicle stopped by the ICPD on Highway 6 East near Scott Boulevard at 3:30 on the morning of April 4th. Police say he gave them his brother’s name and information to avoid arrest.

Menard was taken into custody on Thursday and charged with Providing False Identity Information. If convicted, he faces a maximum of 30 days in jail.

Menard is on the Iowa Sex Offender Registry. He was convicted on sexual abuse charges in 2013 after police say he had a sexual relationship with a 12-year-old and fondled an eight-year-old and a nine-year-old.
