An area transient allegedly showed a taste for a particular brand of liquor when arrested on two separate theft charges.

According to the criminal complaint, 35-year-old Tamira Johnson was at the South Gilbert Street Kum & Go on the night of June 16th and was allegedly observed by staff selecting a bottle of Don Julio tequila from the shelf, concealing it, and leaving the store without attempting to pay for the item.

The bottle retailed for $63.49.

Johnson reportedly returned to the same location on June 29th and grabbed two bottles of Don Julio using the same MO, leaving the store without paying for the alcohol.

Johnson faces two 5th degree theft charges, and could be sentenced to up to 60 days in jail if convicted.

She also faces felony charges after an alleged overnight burglary of a Broadway Street convenience store where she stole seven cartons of cigarettes. She has pleaded not guilty in that incident and has a case management conference scheduled for August 12th.
