Iowa City Police say they’ve identified the suspects accused of assaulting a homeless man downtown earlier this week.
On Tuesday, the ICPD released a video of a suspect assaulting a homeless man who was sleeping near the bicycle racks outside the Iowa City Public Library just after 1:00 Tuesday morning. The video shows another suspect assaulting the same person less than ten minutes later. The suspects returned to the area a third time and were seen on video sprinting through the alley next to the Iowa City Senior Center at 1:20 am.
The suspects were traveling on foot with three other individuals. Videos of the assaults were posted to social media platforms.
On Friday, the ICPD posted on its “Iowa City Public Safety” Facebook page that the subjects have been identified. There was no mention of their identities or of any charges being filed in the case.
