An Iowa City man faces a parole violation after allegedly removing his GPS monitor and leaving the state.

On June 9th, 44-year-old Lawrence Bohnenkamp contacted staff at Hope House Residential Correctional Facility and asked for an extension of his curfew. He was denied, and at approximately 9:04pm, a GPS strap violation was detected for Bohnenkamp.

A warden attempted to make contact with Bohnenkamp the next day via text to determine his whereabouts, and he said that he was going to visit an uncle out of state.  Bohnenkamp then said that when he returned, he would turn himself in and return the ankle monitor.

A warrant for Bohnenkamp’s arrest was issued June 11th, and he was booked at the Johnson County Jail Wednesday.
