LaCrosse Wisconsin man charged with holiday weekend assault

A LaCrosse Wisconsin man was arrested after an alleged holiday weekend assault.

The incident occurred at approximately 1am Friday at the Hills Access and Campground. According to the criminal complaint, 54-year-old Michael Bignell allegedly assaulted the victim by hitting them in the face. The victim suffered bruising and swelling on and around their right eye, and had to be hospitalized due to the altercation.

An arrest warrant was issued on Monday; Bignell was booked at the Johnson County Jail the next day on a charge of Assault causing Bodily Injury. If convicted, he could face up to a year in jail.

On Wednesday, Judge Jason Burns issued a no-contact order between Bignell and the alleged victim.
