Iowa City man arrested on warrants from June search of residence

An Iowa City man has been arrested after authorities executed a search warrant at his Dubuque Street apartment.

Officers conducted a residential search warrant at the apartment of 19-year-old Demario Ray-Salter during the late evening hours of June 15th. He was reportedly at the residence when police arrived. According to the criminal complaint, a search of Ray-Salter’s bedroom turned up 13 ecstasy tablets, several used marijuana vape pens, a marijuana bowl with residue, a digital scale, and dozens of baggies for drug packaging.

A warrant was requested, and Ray-Salter was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 1:30 am Sunday. He’s charged with a Class B controlled substance violation, failure to affix tax stamp, marijuana possession, maintaining a residence for controlled substances, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Ray-Salter as also wanted on a possession charge from an incident on April 15th.

If convicted on all counts, Ray-Salter could be sentenced to over 35 years in prison.
