Johnson County Sheriff’s Office releases name of Lake Macbride drowning victim

A Cedar Rapids man has been identified as the victim of a drowning incident at Lake Macbride last week.

According to the original news release from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, the Joint Emergency Communications Center received a report just after 3:00 Thursday afternoon of a subject who had jumped into the water and did not resurface. First responders were dispatched to the area of Lake Macbride near the spillway into the Coralville Reservoir and began searching the water for the individual. The body of an adult male was recovered from the water at 4:19 p.m.

The individual has been identified as 34-year-old Cesar Garcia-Pelico of Cedar Rapids.

The incident remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.
