An Iowa City man with a history of domestic abuse convictions has been arrested for an incident that occurred earlier this year.

The morning of February 24th,  32-year-old Kelvin Ware of Catskill Court reportedly struck the victim in the face with an open palm. The victim retreated to her vehicle, but Ware allegedly gave chase and was able to get into a partially open window to continue the assault.  The woman reportedly had her hair pulled out by Ware, resulting in pain and swelling.

A warrant was issued February 26th, with a no-contact order requested. Ware remained at large until Sunday night, when officers stopped his vehicle near his home. Ware reportedly got out of the car without being instructed to do so and was ordered to stop due to the warrant. Ware allegedly ran into a nearby house and refused officer commands to come out.

Ware was taken into custody and charged with Domestic Abuse Assault and 1st degree Burglary for the February incident. He was additionally charged with Interference with Official Acts for allegedly running from police. If convicted on all counts, Ware could be sentenced to over 30 years in prison.
