A caretaker is accused of running up thousands of dollars in charges on a credit card stolen from her client in Iowa City.
Iowa City Police say while 34-year-old Midora Slaughter of Cambria Court worked as the alleged victim’s caretaker, she used the person’s credit card to rack up $4,712.71 in purchases. The dozens of purchases…all made in January…allegedly included service on her vehicle and an exam from Kirkwood Community College. Some of the incidents were captured on security video, and transcripts from Kirkwood show the card was used to pay for the exam.
Slaughter is charged with Financial Exploitation of an Older Individual and Unauthorized Use of a Credit Card. If convicted on both charges, she faces a maximum of ten years in prison.
