The Iowa City Community School District Board has appointed Shawn Eyestone to fill the vacancy created when JP Claussen announced he has taken a teaching position.
Eyestone himself left the board in 2022 to pursue a teaching career. He was one of seven candidates hoping to be appointed by the board. Eyestone was the only candidate at Tuesday’s meeting. He will remain on the board until 2025, serving a little more than 16 months before his term expires.
Eyestone told the Press-Citizen he doesn’t plan to seek reelection.
