A Las Vegas man was arrested at bar closing time early Saturday after refusing to step away from a police interaction and allegedly hitting someone in the head with a chair.

Officers were outside the Field House bar on Washington Street just after 2am speaking with a suspect pertaining to an assault.  31-year-old Teon Childs had hit someone in the head with a chair, as evidenced by surveillance video provided to police by staff.

Childs allegedly tried to intervene in the interaction with the victim, and was told to back up. Childs reportedly refused, and continued to yell at officers despite being advised to move away from the scene.

Police say Childs had bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech, heightened emotions, and the odor of ingested alcohol.

Childs was taken into custody and charged with Assault causing Bodily Injury, Interference with Official Acts and Public Intoxication.  If convicted, Childs could be sentenced to up to 14 months in jail.
