An Iowa City man faces a felony charge after allegedly holding a knife to his pregnant partner.

Police were called to the Scott Boulevard residence of 24-year-old James Dunn Wednesday at around 3:45pm. It was reported that Dunn threatened his domestic partner by holding a knife to her while in the bedroom.  He then reportedly went outside and stabbed the knife into the deck.

Dunn then allegedly pulled the knife out of the deck and ran with it towards his partner and her mother, who were leaving in their car.

The woman is reportedly in her first trimester.

A check of court records showed Dunn had a previous Domestic Assault with Display or Use of a Weapon conviction in 2020.  He was charged with Domestic Abuse Assault 2nd offense, a Class D Felony punishable by a prison term of up to five years if convicted.

A no-contact order was requested between the couple.
