The general manager of a North Liberty hotel is accused of stealing over $15,000 from the business by creating a fake employee and having that person’s paychecks directly deposited into his account.

North Liberty Police say an employee of the company that owns Sleep Inn & Suites on Madison Avenue reported in December that the hotel’s general manager, 43-year-old Robert Mosley of Waterloo, had stolen $15,915.72 from the business. An investigation determined that Mosley had used a social security number belonging to a person in Jerseyville, Illinois to create a fake employee named “Julian Roby”. Mosely would then allegedly clock in regularly as Roby between April and November. Roby’s paychecks were reportedly directly deposited into an account run by Mosley.

Mosley is charged with 1st Degree Theft and Identify Theft. If convicted on both charges, he faces a maximum of 20 years in prison.
