The NFL’s Detroit Lions have signed Hawkeye alum Parker Hesse as a tight end.
Hesse signed with the Tennessee Titans as an undrafted free agent in 2019. He later signed with Atlanta in 2021. The Waukon native spent time on the practice squads of both teams during his tenures, with brief stints on the Falcons’ main roster in 2022 and 2023.
Hesse played defensive end at Iowa, finishing his collegiate career with 182 tackles, 14 sacks, 31 tackles for loss and two interceptions in 52 games played.
Lions officials say Hesse was the second-oldest player at their rookie minicamp tryouts.
