A transient from the Iowa City area who has committed several thefts was charged with shoplifting once again.
The most recent incident involving 31-year-old Gregory Echols occurred on April 30th. He allegedly went to the Casey’s on Broadway Street at around 5:15pm and walked out with nearly $16 in merchandise without paying.
Echols has two prior theft convictions and is awaiting a case management conference from an incident at the Waterfront Hyvee on February 24th when he reportedly walked out with about $1500 in merchandise without paying.
Due to the prior convictions, Echols was charged with 3rd degree Theft for the April 30th incident, and could be sentenced to up to two years in jail if convicted. Echols faces up to five years in prison for the February incident.
