A Coralville man faces charges after allegedly spitting on an Uber driver.
The incident occurred Saturday just before 10:50pm. 37-year-old Terrence Martin of 10th Street was allegedly upset at the route the driver was taking and spit on him. The driver pulled over and called police, who met Martin at the Kum & Go on Mormon Trek Boulevard.
Martin was inside the store when officers arrived and allegedly observed him with bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech and the odor of ingested alcohol. He was arrested for simple assault and public intoxication.
A post-arrest search of his person reportedly found a small baggie containing a white powdery substance that field tested positive for cocaine. Marin was then charged with a second offense controlled substance violation.
If convicted on the counts against him, Martin could be sentenced to a maximum 26 months in jail.
