An Iowa City man was sentenced Tuesday to 27 years in federal prison for distributing a mixture containing Heroin that resulted in a death.
According to a release from the US Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa, Iowa City Police officers were dispatched to a residence on January 23, 2021 on reports of a suspected overdose. After investigation, 43-year-old Dione Dante Mobley, also known as “Flee,”and 43-year-old Lugene Shipp were identified as the source of the heroin. Both were arrested for conspiracy to distribute heroin.
The two men were both convicted after a trial last fall. Shipp was previously sentenced to 25 years, and Mobley was sentenced Tuesday to 27 years in prison.
After completing their terms of imprisonment, both Mobley and Shipp will be required to serve 5 years of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.
