North Liberty Police say a suspect passed a counterfeit $100 bill at a local fast food restaurant.
According to arrest records, 28-year-old Branden Johnson-Williams of North Front Street entered the McDonald’s on Pacha Parkway just after 3:30 on the afternoon of August 16th, 2023 and used a $100 bill that police say had an “obvious counterfeit watermark” to pay for a $4.44 meal. He received $95.56 in change.
Johnson-Williams was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 8:15 Wednesday night and charged with Forgery and 5th Degree Theft. If convicted on both charges, he faces a maximum of over five years in prison.
