A Marion man was arrested Monday night after reportedly driving while intoxicated.

Police say 22-year-old Ian Barney of Cherokee Drive was on Park Road at approximately 7:20pm when officers were dispatched to his location due to his vehicle sitting on its side in a ditch. The vehicle appeared to have rolled over, and Barney reportedly identified himself as the driver.

He allegedly stated he had consumed six alcoholic beverages earlier in the day, and performed measurable impairment on field tests.  A PBT showed him over the legal limit to drive, and a subsequent Datamaster test showed a .162 percent BAC.

Barney was charged with first offense OWI, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to one year if convicted.
