Eastbound I-80 entrance ramp at West Branch interchange to close starting Sunday

Iowa DOT news release

DAVENPORT, Iowa – April 9, 2024 – If you drive on eastbound Interstate 80 near West Branch you need to be aware of construction work for I-80 widening projects between Iowa City and West Branch that may impact your trip.

Starting on Sunday, April 14 until mid-November 2024, weather permitting, the eastbound I-80 entrance ramp at the West Branch interchange (exit 254) will be closed so construction crews can work on the new eastbound I-80 alignment.

During this closure you’ll follow a marked detour route by traveling west on I-80 to the Herbert Hoover Highway/Cedar/Johnson County Road F-44 (exit 249) to access eastbound I-80 (see map).

Help keep everyone on the road safer. Drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, you should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
