Local non-profit food rescue organization Table 2 Table is putting out the call for partnerships with local growers for distribution of fresh produce to those with food insecurity.
According to a release from the organization, volunteers gleaned over 4000 pounds of fruits and vegetables last season from farmers and local gardeners, distributing their excess to neighbors in need. Local growers donated nearly 50,000 pounds of fresh produce in total.
Everyone is invited to “Grow a Row” to donate to local food pantries. Home gardeners are invited to drop off their produce at Table to Table, located in Pepperwood Plaza, between 8am-3pm Monday-Friday, and 9am-noon Saturday.
For larger quantity donations including a request for volunteers to come harvest, contact gleaning@table2table.org or call 319-337-3400.
Table 2 Table’s annual spring banquet is April 24th; the event is nearly sold out. Tickets are available at table2table.org.
