A Friday morning social media threat made against City High was deemed not credible, and the school operated business as usual.
The Daily Iowan reports that Principal John Bacon notified students and staff of a potential threat of violence in an email sent at 6:12am. Bacon said that after following up with law enforcement, they said the threat wasn’t credibile.
The principal informed the City High family that the student involved with the threat would not be in school that day. The school will be communicating with the student involved as well as their family to determine next steps according the Iowa City Community School District’s protocols.
Principal Bacon called the incident a perfect example of “if you hear or see something, say something.”
