A Columbus Junction man has escaped from a southeast Iowa work release facility.
The Iowa Department of Corrections says 30-year-old Joshua Michael Bergen, convicted of Willful Injury Causing Serious Injury, Willful Injury Causing Bodily Injury, and 3rd Degree Burglary in Louisa County, as well as Escape of Felon in Des Moines County, failed to report back to the Burlington Residential Facility as required on Monday. Bergen is a white male standing 5’5″ tall and weighing 169 pounds. He was admitted to the work release facility on Jan. 18, 2024.
Bergen stabbed two men outside The Sandbar in Wapello in 2015. He was also charged in connection with stabbings in Mediapolis in 2014 and Washington in 2012.
