Sentencing has been handed down on a Cedar Rapids man who police say tried to entice a minor into sexual acts in Iowa City.

Iowa City Police say 36-year-old Collin White of 1st Avenue SE communicated with a person he believed to be under the age of 16, telling them in great detail how he wanted to have sexual relations with them. White allegedly sent the person several photos of his penis. He also reportedly asked the other person for photos and videos of their genitalia.

Police say White eventually arranged to pick the person up and transport them to his hotel room, where they would engage in sexual activities. White arrived at a predetermined location on 1st Avenue just after 8:15 on the night of February 16th. Police arrested him as he arrived. They confiscated a knife with a blade over 5 ½ inches long.

White reached a plea deal with prosecutors on March 18th. He has since been sentenced to a five-year prison term on a charge of Enticing a Minor for Sexual Purposes, two years for Telephone Dissemination of Obscene Material to a Minor, and one year for Carrying Weapons. A Sexual Exploitation of a Minor charge was dropped.

White could have faced a maximum sentence of 33 years in prison if convicted on all charges.
