An Iowa City man faces Domestic Abuse charges after an incident Thursday evening.

The incident occurred at around 7pm Thursday at the Bon Aire Mobile Home Lodge residence of 31-year-old Javier Quintero Vasquez. His wife of 6 years returned home and spoke with him about  some housekeeping issues, leading to Vasquez demanding the key to one of the vehicles parked in the driveway.  The vehicle is the one primarily driven by the woman, and she reportedly was reluctant to give up her only mode of transportation.

When he couldn’t find the key, Vasquez allegedly cornered his wife in the laundry area, grabbed her shirt, and pulled it to the ground.  He then reportedly dragged her to the living room, where the key came out of her pocket.  Having obtained the key, Vasquez reportedly retreated to his part of the house.

The woman suffered red marks on her neck from being dragged by her shirt.

Vasquez was taken into custody and charged with Domestic Abuse Assault causing Injury, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to one year if convicted.
