A forgery suspect has been arrested after police say he sexually propositioned employees at a Coralville restaurant.
Coralville Police say 35-year-old Julian Stewart of 6th Avenue entered Monica’s on The Coralville Strip just before 4:30 Friday afternoon and began asking staff members to have sex with him. When confronted by a staff member, Stewart allegedly slapped them in the face.
Police located Stewart a short time later on the 200 block of 6th Avenue. He reportedly resisted arrest, leading to a scuffle that caused officers to suffer a jammed finger, a scraped knee, and a scraped neck.
Stewart was wanted after he allegedly deposited a pair of stolen, forged checks totaling $5,400 into his bank account at Green State Credit Union on 12th Avenue last December. Police say the checks were stolen during a storage unit burglary.
Stewart is charged with two counts each of Forgery and Identity Theft and one count each of Assault Causing Bodily Injury, Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations, and Interference With Official Acts Causing Bodily Injury. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of 24 years in prison.
