Heartlanders head into OT scoreless, Nailers take it 1-0

Coralville, Iowa – The Iowa Heartlanders fell to the Wheeling Nailers in overtime, 1-0, Friday at Xtream Arena. The Heartlanders entered overtime scoreless for the first time ever.

Defenseman Justin Lee scored the only goal of the game to take the win for the Nailers at 2:59 of overtime, assisted by Jordan Martel.

Drew DeRidder made 35 saves in defeat, while Taylor Gauthier made 27 saves to record his fourth shutout of the season.

Iowa went 0-for-4 on the power play. The Nailers were 0-for-2.

Pavel Novak led Iowa with five shots on goal.

The Heartlanders are next at home on Sat., Mar. 16th is St. Hat Trick’s Day, featuring a Heartlanders Mascot “Dash” Bobblehead giveaway to the first 500 fans, theme jerseys available for auction and a special appearance by the Kelly Cup, the ECHL’s championship trophy.
