A Coralville woman was arrested after she allegedly was in possession of drugs and a firearm.
Police say 30-year-old Shaunaya Murphy of 4th Avenue was a passenger in a vehicle stopped on the 800 block of Sandusky Drive in Iowa City just after 5pm Monday. The vehicle reportedly had the odor of marijuana and a probable cause search was conducted.
A purse in the vehicle allegedly belonging to Murphy contained a loaded Stoeger 9mm pistol and marijuana. Marijuana was also located in the vehicle itself.
Murphy’s residence reportedly also smelled of marijuana, and when taken into custody told officers that she was, quote, “actually looking for weed all day.”
Murphy was charged with marijuana possession and person ineligible to carry dangerous weapons and faces up to two years in jail if convicted on both counts.
