A Coralville man was taken into custody Friday night after allegedly fighting while intoxicated.

Police were called to the 300 block of Southgate Avenue at around 7pm on reports of a fight involving an intoxicated subject, later identified as 38-year-old Kwame Moss of 13th Avenue.

Moss was located outside the property and reportedly refused to identify himself or comply with officer directives.  He allegedly had the odor of ingested alcohol, and was observed with bloodshot watery eyes and slurred speech.

When arrested, Moss reportedly refused to put his hands behind his back, kicked at officers, and spat in the face of another officer.  He was pepper-sprayed to gain compliance.  He allegedly continued his combative behavior at the Johnson County Jail, resisting jail staff and officers.

Moss faces two counts of Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations, two counts of Interference With Official Acts, and one count of Public Intoxication. If convicted on all charges, he could be sentenced to up to 27 months in jail.
