A visit from his parole officer last month has led an Iowa City man to face felony charges.
According to police, 36-year-old Wesley Morse of Triple Crown Lane was visited by his parole officer the afternoon of February 20th. After letting the officer in, they noticed a jar of marijuana in plain view in Morse’s living room.
A further look around the apartment found a marijuana growing operation being conducted in the man’s bedroom. A residential search warrant was issued, and investigators found a dozen live marijuana plants in various stages of growth in a grow tent equipped with lighting and ventilation. Additionally, Morse was found in possession of extra potting soil, fertilizer, soil PH test kits, thermometers, humidity meters, and digital scales. Marijuana seeds were reportedly found in the living room, located in a package with Morse’s name on it.
Morse allegedly admitted knowing about the illegal substances and paraphernalia seized from his residence.
An arrest warrant was issued on Friday, and Morse was arrested Monday. He faces one count each of a controlled substance violation, failure to affix tax stamp, keeping premises for controlled substances, and possession of drug paraphernalia. If convicted on all charges, he could be sentenced to over 12 years in prison.
