An Iowa City man who allegedly committed assault on personnel at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in 2020 has been arrested.

Police say 47-year-old Matthew McFadden of Church Street was a patient at the medical facility the morning of April 21st 2020 when he was informed that x-rays were going to be taken due to his injuries.  McFadden allegedly became verbally abusive and uncooperative, and assaulted an x-ray technician  and a nurse on duty by punching them in the chest.

Warrants were issued for McFadden a week later, and he avoided arrest until this week. He is charged with two counts of Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations and could be sentenced to up to four years in jail if convicted.  After his initial hearing, he posted bond and was released pending future court dates.
