A Cedar Rapids man was arrested over the weekend after he allegedly hit a parked car in Iowa City while intoxicated.
According to police, 25-year-old Marckendy Altidor was driving a 2011 Lincoln on the 2600 block of Whispering Meadow Drive at around 7:20 Saturday night when he was reportedly involved in a collision with a parked vehicle. Altidor allegedly left the scene, but was located a short distance away and was identified by a witness as the person who hit the parked car.
Altidor reportedly had bloodshot watery eyes, impaired balance, slurred speech, and had the odor of ingested alcohol. He allegedly admitted to drinking and exhibited measurable impairment on field testing. Altidor gave a Datamaster reading showing a .207 percent BAC.
He was arrested, and allegedly obstructed processing by standing up, pacing around, yelling and becoming animated. Altidor also resisted efforts to put him in handcuffs.
He was arrested and charged with OWI first offense, Interference with Official Acts, Public Intoxication, Striking a Parked Vehicle, Driving while Suspended, and Driving without Insurance. Altidor could be sentenced to up to 14 months in jail if convicted.
