The Big Ten Conference announced Friday that the women’s basketball tournament has sold out in advance.
They expect a five-day attendance record of over 109,000 at the Target Center in Minneapolis. The previous record was over 47,900 set last year.
Currently, tickets are only available on the secondary market.
Officials say the proximity to Iowa made Minneapolis an ideal site to take advantage of Hawkeye Caitlin Clark’s popularity. All the regular season home games have been sold out for weeks.
Iowa will try to defend their Big Ten championship title when the games begin March 6th. They beat Ohio State to win the tournament last year in front of a record 9500 fans.
