A Traer Iowa man faces up to 30 years in prison after being stopped for an equipment violation in North Liberty last week.

Police stopped 37-year-old Zachary Mask for an equipment violation near the intersection of Penn Street and Kansas Avenue at around noon last Thursday.  When they made contact with him, Mask reportedly admitted that he didn’t have a driver’s license and was asked to step away from the vehicle.

Mask allegedly told officers that he had drugs on his person, stashed in his underwear.  He removed a clear baggie that he reportedly stated contained methamphetamine.  He allegedly admitted to having another baggie of meth in his pocket.  Police say Mask had a total of 10 grams of meth between the two baggies.

He was taken into custody and charged with a Class B Controlled Substance Violation and Failure to Affix Drug Stamp, which is a Class D felony.  He appeared before Judge Julia Zalenski the following day.  Mask had an attorney appointed for him and was released pending further court dates.
