Iowa City Police have arrested a suspect in the shots fired incident that caused a lockdown at City High School last fall.
32-year-old Terrell Scott was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 2:00 Sunday morning. City High was locked down for a report of shots fired on the 1800 block of nearby High Street just as classes were letting out on November 8th. Shell casings were found outside Scott’s High Street residence, and a search warrant was conducted. Police say they found a Smith & Wesson 9mm pistol inside Scott’s home, despite the fact he has a 2020 felony conviction for Going Armed With Intent. In 2019 Scott was the driver of a vehicle from where a passenger shot several rounds at a group of people standing in a parking lot on Hollywood Boulevard.
Video evidence reportedly shows Scott holding the same firearm from his home several weeks before the shooting outside his residence. Police say he showed the gun off during a video call.
Scott…who recently moved to Iowa City from Joliet, Illinois…was also wanted for an October incident during which he reportedly pulled out a gun during an Uber ride. He’s now charged with two counts of Dominion or Control of a Firearm by a Felon. If convicted, he faces a maximum of ten years in prison.
