An Iowa City woman was taken into custody by police this week after allegedly being found with drugs during a traffic stop.

29-year-old Patience Shedd of Taft Avenue Southeast was reportedly at the Ryerson Woods just before 10:30 Monday to pick up friends. An officer made contact with her and allegedly noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.  A probable cause search reportedly turned up a bag of meth under the driver’s seat, and a meth pipe in her bra.  Shedd admitted to using meth, and performed poorly on field tests.

She was found to have no alcohol in her system, but a drug evaluation determined that she was under the influence of a CNS stimulant and unable to operate a motor vehicle safely.

Shedd was charged with OWI first offense and a Controlled Substance violation. If convicted on both counts, she could be sentenced to up to 2 years in jail.
