Iowa City community garden plot renewals begin Monday

Iowa City’s Parks and Recreation Department will begin renewals for garden plots for the 2024 season on Monday, Feb. 12, 2024. The community gardens are located in four locations – Wetherby Park, Chadek Green Park, Kiwanis Park, and Reno Street Park.

Individuals or organizations who reserved a plot in summer 2023 can reserve their same plot again by visiting the Mercer Park Aquatic Center, 2701 Bradford Drive, or calling 319-356-5109 between Feb. 12 and Friday, March 8.

New plot reservations will open at 7 a.m., Tuesday, March 19 at Mercer Park Aquatic Center. New plot reservations must be made in person.

Depending on weather conditions, the season will take place between April 15 and Oct. 18, 2024.

Garden plots at Wetherby Park are offered in two sizes. The 10’x23’ plots are available for $15.75 for residents and $20.75 for non-residents. The 10’x50’ plots are available for $25.75 for residents and $30.75 for non-residents.

Garden plots at Chadek Green Park, Kiwanis Park, and Reno Street Park are 10’x20’ and are $15.75 for residents and $20.75 for non-residents. Chadek Green also has 10’x10′ plots for $10 for residents and $15 for non-residents. Please note that all dimensions are approximations.
