An Iowa City man driving a car without plates has been charged with possession of crack cocaine.
Just after 6pm Wednesday, 65-year-old Rosell Saulsberry of 501 Southgate was stopped on the 500 block of South Governor Street after reportedly operating a vehicle without plates, a cracked front windshield and no temporary tag showing. A check of his driving record showed that he is a barred driver and has a restricted license. Saulsberry allegedly lacked the proper form to operate a vehicle while restricted.
A search incident to arrest reportedly turned up a small baggie with a white powdery substance suspected to be crack cocaine in his wallet.
Saulsberry has a prior drug conviction and was barred from driving as a habitual offender. He was charged with Driving While Barred and 2nd offense Controlled Substance violation. Saulsberry could be sentenced to up to four years in jail if convicted on both charges.
